TSG’s Retro Pokémon Charity Marathon Has Begun!

[Full Disclosure: I’ve personally contributed money to this charity marathon out of my own pocket since writing this article.]

TheSpeedGamers are once again racing the clock to catch every Pokémon for a good cause in their seasonal Pokémon Charity Marathon!  A volunteer group of gamers who raise money for different charities through their many gaming marathon streams on Twitch.tv, TheSpeedGamers are attempting to catch all 251 Pokémon from the original 8-bit Pokémon games within 72 hours.

Games from Generation I and Generation II are played on actual game cartridges and streamed live for all to see.  Viewers can donate money toward naming the Pokémon that get caught during the marathon (first-come, first-serve!) as well as other prize incentives including a chance to win the Field Guide to Kanto and a copy of Nintendo Force Magazine’s Thank You, Mr. Iwata special issue.  All the money goes directly to charities supported by the Rocking H Ranch.

There will be a variety of bonuses and surprises on stream as donation incentives (known as Achievements for this stream) are met.  As an added bonus, there will be an interview with Nob Ogasawara (who worked on translating for all the main Pokémon games until Pokémon Platinum) this Friday December 18th from 7pm-8pm CST.

You can check their marathon schedule here.  If you wish to help their cause, you can donate directly here!

Shout-outs to all the marathon runners, donors, and everyone behind the scenes making the Retro Pokémon Charity Marathon a reality!
