The next successor to Pokémon Tretta gets a new music video trailer!
With the next Generation of Pokémon games underway, a new iteration of Pokémon arcade games is about to release in Japan. Pokémon Ga-Olé is the latest in a series of arcade games that has players collecting and battling Pokémon by scanning special game tokens, succeeding Pokémon Tretta and Pokémon Battrio before it.
Pokémon Ga-Olé was previously teased in CoroCoro Magazine a few months ago. However, actual footage of the game hasn’t been shown until now.
You can watch this new trailer down below here, courtesy of the official CoroCoro Youtube channel:
Given the nature of these type of collectable token-based arcade games, the new Ga-Olé disks will replace the older Tretta tokens. However, it’s worth noting that, according to Serebii.net, these new Ga-Olé disks have QR codes that are compatible with the upcoming Pokémon Sun & Moon! The latest issue of CoroCoro Magazine even announced that a special Magearna Ga-Olé disk has a QR code that you can scan to download your very own Magearena in Pokémon Sun & Moon.
Given the popularity of arcade cabinets in North America (or lack thereof), it’s unlikely we’ll see Pokémon Ga-Olé outside of Japan, at least in arcade form. It’s also unknown at this time just to what extent all these QR codes on the Ga-Olé disks will have on Pokémon Sun & Moon besides registering them on your Pokédex (outside of the special Magearna disk).
Pokémon Ga-Olé releases in arcades in Japan in July 2016.
I like the graphical style of the game, especially the details of the battle environments. I also really enjoyed that theme they used in the trailer; compare it with the Pokémon Tretta Ultimate Z theme and see which one you like more!
