“Volcanion & the Mechanical Marvel” Announced

English adaptation of latest Pokémon film announced alongside new English trailer!

A flurry of Volcanion-related news came bursting through when XY – Steam Siege launched this week; among them is the reveal of the English version of the latest Pokémon movie featuring Volcanion and Magearna that’s currently running in theaters in Japan.  Officially titled Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel, the movie received its first-ever English trailer following its reveal.

You can watch this trailer down below here:

For those who’ve been following this movie in particular, you might recognize that this trailer is based off one of the earlier Japanese trailers – it was covered on the site a long while ago, which you can view for yourself here.

The XY – Steam Siege mini site also provides a synopsis for the film, as seen here:

In this latest cinematic adventure, Ash meets the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion when it crashes down from the sky, creating a cloud of dust—and a mysterious force binds the two of them together! Volcanion despises humans and tries to get away, but it’s forced to drag Ash along as it continues its rescue mission. They arrive in a city of cogs and gears, where a corrupt minister has stolen the ultimate invention: the Artificial Pokémon Magearna, created 500 years ago. He plans to use its mysterious power to take control of this mechanical kingdom! Can Ash and Volcanion work together to rescue Magearna? One of the greatest battles in Pokémon history is about to unfold!

Currently, no official release date or format for Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel has been revealed at this time.  However, given the tradition how Pokémon movies release in North America, we’ll likely see the movie air on TV and release on DVD around October, coinciding with the Volcanion event taking place at this time.

Based on what I’ve heard from the trailer, I actually like Volcanion’s English voice; it’s got that grizzled edge that makes it sound like Volcanion’s been around for a long time and has seen a bit too much, y’know?
