XY Evolutions: First Japanese Cards Revealed!

“Base Set” Charizard, Pikachu, and Professor Oak confirmed in XY – Evolutions!

The official Japanese Pokémon TCG site launched a new minisite celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.  While showcasing cards from the first several sets, the site also revealed new iterations of classic cards – the same cards that will likely be featured XY – Evolutions, the next Pokémon TCG expansion after the recently released XY – Steam Siege!

So far, Pikachu, Charizard, and Professor Oak from the Japanese version of Base Set have had their new, more modern cards showcased.  Compare the original Japanese cards to their new, more modern versions down below:

As you can see, the artwork is identical to the original cards, but numbers such as HP and attack power have been modified to make the cards more relevant in today’s TCG formats.

While there are no English card scans revealed for Evolutions just yet, the Japanese cards provide a suitable glimpse of what to expect when these cards release in English later this year.

Pokémon TCG: XY – Evolutions is expected to release on November 2, 2016.

With the cards presented as they are in Japanese, I can’t wait to see how they turn out in English!  That being said, I want to see how the EX cards will look in this set given the more retro-inspired theme this time around…
