Cult classic Nintendo 64 title rereleasing on Wii U’s Virtual Console platform in Europe!
After the likes of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and Pokémon Ranger, the next spin-off title to receive a Virtual Console release outside of Japan is Pokémon Snap! Originally released for the Nintendo 64 back in 1999, this cult classic Pokémon spin-off will be heading to the UK and EU this week as a downloadable title from the Nintendo Wii U eShop.
Like the original Wii Virtual Console release, this version of Pokémon Snap contains a few modifications, including a slight recolour to Jynx to reflect her current design. Unlike the original Wii VC version, you cannot save photos taken to an SD card; instead, you can share the photos you’ve taken and other in-game screenshots directly to Miiverse as with any other game on the Wii U.
NintenDaan has posted a video a few months ago from the Japanese version of the Wii U Virtual Console version of Pokémon Snap, which should give you an idea of what to expect when the game returns to western shores:
Pokémon Snap is slated to arrive by the end of this week for those of you in Europe. While there’s no official release date for the North American version just yet, it’s a safe bet that this game will be making its way over soon enough.
Glad to see this game making a return outside of Japan! Truth be told, I still think not making Pokémon Snap 2 on the Wii U was a missed opportunity!
