Official artwork for English booster box and packs leaked early!
Early this week, the packaging art for XY Evolutions was leaked online, showing up on sites like PokéBeach way before the expansion’s official release. With images of both the booster box and the booster pack art surfacing online, you can get a good look at what this newest expansion’s packaging will look like when it hits retailers late this year.

Despite featuring the Mega Evolved versions of classic Pokémon, the art itself has a slightly nostalgic flair to it. Take a look at the pack art from Base Set down below here:
Notice the poses? The Mega Evolved Pokémon are posed almost exactly the same as their original Base Set counterparts! The odd Pokémon out is Raichu, who is neither a Mega Evolution nor a tribute to Base Set‘s pack art (there were only 3 booster pack arts for Base Set, as showcased above), but does fit the theme of being the final evolution of a classic Starter Pokémon (i.e. Pikachu from Pokémon Yellow).
Pokémon TCG: XY – Evolutions is expected to release on November 2, 2016.
Now this is a pretty clever blast to the past! I like how both the English expansion and Japanese equivalent make packaging art that serves as a callback to their very first TCG sets, albeit in their own unique way. It truly goes with the theme of classic cards being remastered for a new generation!
