Sun & Moon: Alolan Rattata and Z-Moves Galore!

Latest trailer reveals a new Alola Form and new Z-Move details!

With the latest Nintendo Direct having come and gone, a brand new trailer for Pokémon Sun & Moon was released this Thursday, revealing a brand new Alola Form Pokémon as well as some brand new details on the new Z-Move system.

First, watch the newest trailer down below:

Now let’s take a look at what we’ve learned from this latest info:

Alolan Rattata

Name: Alolan Rattata
Type: Dark/Normal
Ability: Gluttony / Hustle

Unlike ordinary Rattata, urban areas are Alolan Rattata’s main habitat. They are nocturnal and live in nests of several dozen. Alolan Rattata have an excellent aptitude for sniffing out delicious fresh foods in Alola. They pay no attention to foods that aren’t fresh. Alolan Raticate serve as their boss.

Based from what we know about the most recent Nintendo Direct, Alolan Rattata adapted as a result of Yungoos being brought into the Alola region, changing into nocturnal creatures (and gaining the Dark-type) in order to survive their newfound diurnal predators.  I look forward to seeing what Alolan Raticate looks like!

Snorlax Z-Move

The latest trailer revealed that certain Pokémon will be getting exclusive Z-Moves! Depending on the Z-Crystal they hold, some Pokémon (as demonstrated with Alolan Raichu’s Stoked Sparksurfer and Snorlax’s Pulverizing Pancacke) will unleash a devastating move that’s unique to them or their species.

These Z-Crystals, based on what we saw from the latest Nintendo Direct, look to be separate from the other Z-Crystals shown, with “Snorlium Z” being unique from “Waterium Z” and “Electrium Z” shown in the video.  No word yet on whether or not this system replaces the established Mega Evolution and Mega Stones that made their debut in Pokémon X & Y.

Pokémon Sun & Moon releases on November 18, 2016.

I really, really want to know what Alolan Raticate looks like! Also, I found Snorlax’s Z-Move animation to be absolutely awesome.
