Pokémon TCG Pocket is introducing a feature that’s been eagerly anticipated since the game debuted in October 2024: a trading system. Set to launch in January, this feature will add a new dynamic to the game, though it comes with specific guidelines players need to understand.
Players will be able to trade cards with friends, but there are important rules to remember. Trades are only possible with cards of the same rarity, specifically between levels 1 and 4, including level 1 Star rarity cards. Initially, only select cards from the Genetic Apex and Mythic Island expansions will be available for trade, with more to be added over time.
A unique aspect of this system is the requirement of a special item to complete trades. Details are still under wraps, but it seems players might need a specific coupon. Whether this will be a new or an existing item is yet to be disclosed.
Moreover, all basic cards up to level 4 diamonds will be modifiable, including original Ex cards. However, for rarer cards, only those classified as level 1 Star will be eligible for exchange.
